Clockwork Robots

These androids were prepared to do anything to repair their ship!

In charge of maintenance on SS Madame de Pompadour, the team of robots on the ship ran on clockwork. In the event of a power failure, this meant they could continue to work. Unfortunately, that’s what happened when the ship ran into an ion storm. Suffering an 82 per cent systems failure, the robots’ programming was affected. Determined to repair the ship, they even use the crew as spare parts.

Needing to replace the command circuit of the ship’s main computer, the robots assumed that the brain of the real Madame de Pompadour – when she was the same age as the ship – would be a suitable replacement! They used time windows to travel to the 18th century to find when Madame de Pompadour would be “complete”. Luckily, the Doctor broke the link to the ship and the androids wound down.
