The Graske, small creatures with distinctive jester’s-hat heads, took over planets by replacing their populations. The changelings could be spotted by their glowing green eyes, while the original inhabitants were kept in a chamber on Griffoth, the planet of the Graske. These victims had to be kept alive in order to sustain the duplicates and the entrance to the chamber was heavily shielded. It was possible to brake inside, however, by solving a series of different puzzles.
A Graske appeared on Earth at Christmas in the early 21st century and replaced two members of a welsh family before fleeing to 1883. The Tenth Doctor oiled this scheme but ran into another Graske when one appeared in the TARDIS to warn him about a space portal to London’s Royal Albert Hall! It was a trick – the Graske just wanted a shortcut to Earth and ran amok with a water pistol among the concert-goers before the Doctor banished him to the other side of the galaxy.
