When the Second Doctor visited a future Earth in the grip of an ice age he met a group of scientists who had discovered a massive, reptilian alien entombed in a glacier. Christened an “Ice Warrior” by the humans, the creature returned to life and identified itself as a native of the planet Mars. In a later adventure, the Doctor stopped these Martian warmongers from invading 21st-century Earth.
When the Third Doctor met the Ice Warriors on the planet Peladon he thought they were responsible for a series of murders – and even he was shocked to learn that they had become a peaceful race and were trusted members of the Galactic Federation. But when the Doctor visited Peladon again, fifty years later, he met a rebel group of the aliens still devoted to conquest, You never know quite where you are with an Ice Warrior!
